Flaxseed: possible delivery delays until early 2022

NUR-SULTAN.There are rumours in the flaxseed market that deliveries from Kazakhstan to the EU could be delayed until 2022. Meanwhile, the long-awaited rainfall provided some relief after the long hot spell.

Drought and pests are problematic

In the past weeks, heat and drought prevailed in the Kazakh and Russian flaxseed growing regions, but it remains to be seen what impact this will have on the yield. In the meantime, the long-awaited rains have brought relief, even if they did not fall to the extent that would have been necessary. Insects cause another problem for farmers at the moment, as oilseed expert Evgeniy Karabanov of the Kazakh Grain Union (KGU) explained. They are now trying to control them with the appropriate means.
