Flaxseed: delivery delays cause uncertainty

WARSAW/OTTAWA. The border between Poland and Belarus remains closed following five days of military manoeuvres. Meanwhile, Canadian market experts are optimistic about the 2025 crop yields. Over the past twelve months, Canada has exported flaxseed worth USD 155 million.

Canada's production could increase by 42%

Following the delayed start to the harvest in Canada, reliable yield results are not yet available. However, optimal weather conditions give cause for optimism that yields will be significantly better than last year. According to the latest data from Agriculture and Agri Food Canada, around 365,414 mt of flaxseed could be harvested this year from an area of 241,500 ha, resulting in an average yield of 1.513 mt/ha.
