Flaxseed: Production drops to 5-year low

KIEV/LODZ. Production in the Ukraine is expected to fall to a 5-year low this year. This will also have an impact on exports.

 

Export potential declines

The 2018 KazOil Fat-and-Oil Conference was held in Astana last week. Some concerned was stirred as it was announced that flaxseed production in the Ukraine has dropped to ca. 40.000 mt this year - a 5-year low, according to Natalya Skuratovich, Key Account Manager at PETKUS Holding GmbH. This season’s exports are therefore expected to decrease year-on-year, from 23,000 mt to 20,000 mt. In 2017/18 the most important buyers of flaxseed from the Ukraine included the EU (35%), Vietnam (34%) and Bangladesh (7%) and Egypt (7%
