Flaxseed: Russia to export 550,000 mt

LODZ/MOSCOW. Due to the high yields of the crop, experts reckon that Russia should be able to export 550,000 mt this season. The export volume, however, currently ranges well below last year.

Realistic export estimates?

From September to December 2018, exports from Russia ranged at 208,000 mt, a decline of 33% year-on-year. Belgium (99,000 mt) and China (54,000 mt) remain the most important export destinations. While exports to Belgium declined by 36% during this period, exports to China rose by more than 58%.

The analysts of APK Inform are not deterred by the decline in exports. They reckon that the rise in production will enable Russia to export as much as 550,000 mt this season. This would be 13% increase over last season. Nevertheless, these
