ASTANA/MOSCOW. Experts reckon with a massive drop in production in Russia and Kazakhstan due to unfavorable weather conditions.

Up to 30% losses to be expected
Heavy rainfall and droughts are expected to significantly reduce flaxseed production in Russia and Kazakhstan this year. Market participants anticipate a decline in production of 20% and 30%, respectively, to around 450,000 mt.

As of July 1, 2018, the flaxseed stocks in Kazakhstan stood at 123,140 mt, according to the Kazakh Statistics Committee. On April 1, 2018, as much as 286,770 mt were still available, around 60,000 mt more than at the beginning of April 2017 (228,660 mt).
