Flaxseed: USA and China reduce imports

OTTAWA/WASHINGTON, DC. Prices have risen in Canada. Contrary to this, the process for the new crop are under pressure.

USA increase production by 70%

According Statistics Canada, around 600,000 mt of flaxseed will be produced on 400,000 hectares. Coupled with the remaining stocks from this season, supplies should reach 695,000 mt in 2019/20.

US farmers have sown about 139,000 ha. If yields remain similar to last year production will range at 190,000-200,000 mt in 2019/20, an increase of as much as 70/ over 2018/19.
