BRUSSELS. Wheat is trending in different directions. In Europe, the heatwaves are having quite an impact on corn. Chine is buying large volumes of soybeans. Ukraine is seeking alternative transport routes for rapeseed.

Differing impulses for wheat

Wheat has seen a wide price range this week, driven by lower crop estimates in France, Germany and Poland. Better results in Romania and Bulgaria did not offset the downturn in EU production. In addition, the escalation of the Ukraine-Russia war has led to risk premiums. According to media reports, Ukrainian drones have attacked a grain terminal in the southern Russian port of Taman, forcing Moscow to suspend grain shipments from the ports of Novorossiysk and Taman, which has pushed export prices back up in Rouen in France.
