BRUSSELS. Wheat exports are progressing slowly in the Black Sea region. Corn stocks are not only high in the US. Any hopes of China buying more soybeans in the US have been slashed for now. Competition is fierce for rapeseed.

Slow wheat exports

Russia’s wheat stocks are growing as export volumes are too low. SovEcon has lowered the forecast for Russian wheat exports in 2026/27 by 4.7 million mt to 36.7 million mt, a good 20% below last year’s 46 million mt. Exports via the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov are blocked due to the war. Alternative routes via rail and Russian Baltic Sea ports are providing little relief. Ukraine has exported as little as 2.6 million mt of wheat since the start of the season as compared with the 4.7 million mt registered in the same period last year.
