With oil prices surging due to Iran's attacks on producing facilities in the Persian Gulf grains are witnessing further price distortions. Amidst the war, Russia is supplying Iran with wheat via the Caspian Sea, which has prompted prices to climb to USD 239-240/mt FOB for wheat (12.5%). According to Reuters, Algeria's OAIS has purchased 200,000 mt of milling wheat of any origin in a tender. The purchase price is said to have been USD 291/mt C&F.
