Green Moong : Government Notification makes Local Traders and Stockist happy

Latest notification from DGFT is attached with this report. The import of Urad and Moong has been changed from "FREE" to "RESTRICTED". The Import of Urad and Moong will be subject to 300,000 MT of annual (Fiscal Year) quota and for the clarification separate notification will be issued.

It is been advised by experts of custom clearing agent  and suggested importers to halt all the loading of Urad and Moong until further clarity. The consignments with BL dates before 20th Aug 2017, may not be restricted, however the notification does not mention specific date from which the restriction is applied.

This notification people say that government has made this restriction for this two commodities to save the local production, farmers and also the stock government have in their warehouse which government has bought from the farmers at minimum support prices level.

With news of this restriction in the market, jumped prices from US$ 875 per mt. to US$940 per mt. Over all market prices will go up by US$50 to 100 per mt. in one or two days. in long run also prices will be stable and up unless import is been open. International prices will drop because of this news as India is importing huge amount of quantity for both of  products. Supplying countries like, Mozambique, Myanmar, Tanzania, Uganda, Somalia, and Malawi will face problems for exports in coming days. Market in the respective countries will go down.
