Hazelnuts: Current crop estimates ORDU. Ramadan is set to start tomorrow night, which will quieten down the Turkish market at large; however, the month of fasting has little effect on the export market.

 

Political estimates?
The fruit set counts are underway, resulting in rather disappointing estimates when compared to the first estimates of 650,000 mt. Nevertheless, market participants keep their cool and expect significantly better results from the second count in four weeks. Experts reckon that the estimates, which will be published next week during the International Nut and Dried Fruit Congress will approximate 600,000 mt, to prevent drastic increases in raw nut prices.
