ORDU. Hazelnut suppliers from Turkey have opened up new markets that are willing to pay significantly higher prices than most European customers.

China is picky

By the end of November, about 140,000 metric tonnes of hazelnut kernels had been shipped overseas. The previous record for this period was achieved in 2008 with only 112,000 metric tonnes. In addition to the traditional sales markets, importing countries like China have also massively increased imports. Approximately 10,000 metric tonnes have been exported, usually it used to be only a few hundred tons.
