ORDU. With supplies running low and tensions being felt speculations are running wild in Turkey. Buyers in Europe have adopted a more cautious strategy than their colleagues in Turkey.

Too early, and too unreliable

To prevent further price rises the Exporters’ Union has stated that a production record of 860,000 mt is to be expected this year. Market players, however, decry this first official estimate as too early to be taken seriously. An objective assessment is not possible at this early stage, although things currently do look rather promising in the orchards. This situation can, however, change quickly.
