ORDU/BRUSSELS. Exporters in Turkey are venting their frustration with the EU on social media. Recent import statistics highlight that their fears a justified. Crop quality and the TMO base price will set the agenda for hazelnuts in the next few weeks. Financial challenges are also prevailing.

Turkish exporters feel sidelined by EU

Exporters are voicing anger with the EU’s time plan for introducing maximum levels (ML) for mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons (MOAH) for food. At present, no maximum levels apply for MOAH, yet EU Member States will take action and may even withdraw products, if necessary, where levels of MOAH are detected in line with the Limit of Quantifications (LOQ).
