Hazelnuts: shocking price gaps for new crop

ORDU. Suppliers in the hazelnut market are waiting in vain for some financial relief. New crop offers are showing a rather wide price gap.

No sign of financial relief

With inflation still running high Turkey’s Central Bank kept the key interest rate firm at 37% last week. In a statement the bank highlights that economic activity has slowed in the first quarter and as Reuters reports the surge in energy prices prompted by the Iran war have hit import-dependent countries such as Turkey very hard with inflation standing at 32.61% in May. Consequently, financing costs will remain high for suppliers in the hazelnut market.
