Hazelnuts: Speculations drive up prices

ORDU. The Turkish hazelnut market is not calming down. While the Turkish lira is currently moving within a predictable range, unfortunately the same cannot be said of raw material prices.

Prices at a 2-year high
In the Turkish hazelnut market, raw material prices rose from 15.25 TRY/kg to 16.75 TRY/kg last week. The demand is stable and the weekly exports of 5,000-6,000 mt are in the usual range for this time of the year. Since the start of the season, about 160,000 mt hazelnut kernels have been delivered abroad.

The good coverage of many European customers prevents panic buying. The dealers hope, however, that market leader Ferrero will not approach the higher price level with its bid prices. This would give the impression to the farmers and ex
