Hazelnuts: unease over new crop forecast

ORDU. In Turkey, the latest 2025 crop forecast for hazelnuts issued by the Exporters Union has sparked fierce criticism. Speculations prevail as to the TMO base price and Ferrero’s next moves. Expectation is that the market will turn more active.

New estimate sparks debate

Despite the Exporters Union issuing a crop estimate over 601,000 mt on Monday, scepticism prevails. Not only are agricultural organisations criticising the estimate, but the figure also stands nearly 30% higher than the Ministry of Agriculture’s projection of 460,000 mt.
