Midsona acquires organic pioneer

MALMÖ. Midsona AB has acquired the Davert GmbH, an important leader in the German organic food market. The transaction marks an important step in realizing the strategy of becoming one of the market leaders in Europe.

 

Davert remains a separate entity

As of 01 May, Midsona has acquired 100% of the shares of Davert at a price of ca. EUR 48,5 million. Davert remains a separate operational entity with Erk Schuchardt as CEO.

Founded in 1984 Davert has established itself as a successful pioneer in the Germany market for organic food and currently has about 150 employees. The portfolio includes convenience products, superfood and nuts as well as pulses and many more products. Over the last few years, the company has expanded its product range, relaunched a new brand and improved distribution channels. Investments were als made in production, logistics and administration. In 2017, sales amounted to approximately EUR 64 million.

Important synergies

Peter Åsberg. CEO of Midsona, is convinced of valubale synergies in declaring: “Davert’s product portfolio, market position, multi-channel customer base and its significant competences across the supply chain, from sourcing to production to marketing, are an ideal strategic fit for Midsona.”

Midsona is a leader in the Nordic market for organic foods, healthfoods and personal care and claims to be the Nordic market leader for organic dry products. Brands include Urtekam, Kung Markatta and Helios and Soma.
