Millet: expectations remain unmet

KYIV/DALIAN. Millet sowing in Ukraine is well below expectations. In China, supply and demand are balancing out. EU imports have fallen by 16%.

Sowing is lagging behind

Researchers at the Institute of Agricultural Economics had estimated that the millet acreage in Ukraine in 2026 would be around 130% larger than last year. However, sowing is currently still a long way from reaching that figure. By the start of this week, only 32,200 ha had been sown, whereas at this time last year the figure was already 66,100 ha (87% of the planned area).
