Millet: massive production decline in Ukraine

KYIV/DALIAN. Both the acreage and yields in Ukraine have seen a noticeable decrease. The EU has reduced its imports from Ukraine by around 33% year-on-year.

Lower yields

Millet production in Ukraine is significantly below last year's results. So far, 54,200 mt have been harvested from 32,100 ha, which is 60% of the acreage. At 1.69 mt/ha (2024: 1.89 mt/ha), growers are recording significantly lower yields than last year. In addition, the acreage in 2024 was around 93,000 ha. This has resulted in a significant decline in production; at this time last year, growers had already harvested 154,7800 mt of millet.
