Organic food: Organic market in the Russian Federation

MOSCOW. The production of organic food in the Russian Federation is steadily growing with an average of 5% -10% per year. Since 01.01.2017 a state standard (GOST - R 56508-2015) on certification of organic products has come into force. There is no law on organic farming yet. There is no mandatory certification of eco-products in Russia. The cost of purchasing organic products in Russia in 2017 was less than 1 euro per capita.

 

Scope of application of the new standard

The Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology announced the introduction from January 1, 2017 of the national standard GOST - R 57022-2016 for Products of organic production. Procedures for conducting of voluntary certification.
