NEW DELHI/BUENOS AIRES. Prices for Indian peanuts are currently volatile and there is disagreement as to whether they will rise or fall in the coming weeks; both seem possible. Argentine market players are facing numerous challenges.

Indian government has started buying

Prices on the Indian peanut market are currently characterised by a certain volatility. Prices have declined for several weeks in a row, which can be attributed to the good crop. Compared to last week, prices have now stabilised slightly. The government has started to buy peanuts at the minimum support price and farmers are holding back some of their goods. As a result, there is a gap between supply and demand, so traders are endeavouring to stock up on sufficient quantities. Demand for peanut oil is satisfactory.
