NEW DELHI/BRUSSELS. In the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh sowing has declined sharply for peanuts. Farmers are returning their seeds. Argentina is the most important supplier by far for the EU.

Sharp downturn in sowing in Uttar Pradesh

Peanut prices are stable this week, and the market is facing confusion for the upcoming weeks. One reason is that the overall yield is estimated to remain the same. However, the state of Uttar Pradesh will witness a drop in the sowing area as there has been continuous rainfall since 20 June, and farmers did not execute sowing on time.
