NEW DELHI. The Gujarat government has large stocks of peanuts, which it intends to release for sale in the coming days and weeks. This will push prices down. A smaller crop is currently the only factor supporting peanut prices.

Significant price increases with risk of correction

According to market players, peanut prices in India are currently rising sharply, but export prices remain unchanged from last week for the time being. The smaller crop in Uttar Pradesh and the south of the country is providing support. At the same time, however, there are risks of abrupt price declines. The decisive factor is the planned liquidation of stocks by the Gujarat government, which intends to start with extensive tenders. The auctions will start with 10,000 mt and are to be gradually expanded to 25,000 m
