NEW DELHI. Prices for Indian peanuts have fallen recently. Export demand remains subdued at present, but a recovery is expected during the winter months.

Increased production offsets declines in Gujarat

Export prices for Indian peanuts have risen slightly recently, but they have temporarily fallen on local markets. The main reason for this is the large volume of supplies in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. In Gujarat, the pace of arrivals is also likely to increase from this week onwards. Although a 28-30% decline in production is expected there, this is likely to be offset by the significant rise in production in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, meaning that early deliveries will increase overall.
