NEW DELHI. Few factors suggest that prices on the Indian peanut market will continue to rise. One of these is the import quota introduced by Indonesia. However, the large government stocks could exert considerable pressure.

Indonesia introduces import quota

The Indian peanut market has been showing resilience for around eight weeks now, with a series of price rises. At the same time, it is noted that there is essentially only one positive influencing factor in the market, whilst the overall situation is otherwise described as ranging from stable to pessimistic. Despite the upward trend, no significant further price rise is expected. Market players anticipate limited purchase volumes in the coming weeks.
