NEW DELHI. Indian peanut prices have been under pressure for the past three weeks. The expected higher crop volume and high stock levels are weighing on the market, whilst the rainfall deficit in Gujarat could influence future developments.

Expected crop increases are affecting prices

The Indian peanut market has been in a downward trend for the past three weeks. A relatively stable trend is expected in the near future, although several factors suggest further minor price falls. In Uttar Pradesh, the coming season is expected to see a harvest 70 to 80% larger than last year’s. A 20 to 25% increase is also on the cards in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
