Pistachios: changing demand to impact prices

TEHRAN. Iran’s war-driven dent in exports will provide a silver lining for the tight global supply situation for pistachios in 2026/2027. Anticipation is that price gaps will narrow with a changing demand situation.

Silver lining in Iran

Supplies will be an issue in 2026/2027 as the USA and Iran will enter an off-year in the biennial production cycle and recent production estimates are far from encouraging in Turkey. In the shipment report for August the Iran Pistachio Association (IPA) has maintained that the 2026 crop will stand at 118,000 mt, as much as 48% lower than last year’s 225,000 mt.
