ISTANBUL. With the new season about to start the devasting impact of the drought experienced in Anatolia is becoming apparent for pistachios. Suppliers are demanding irrational prices for baklava pistachios. Demand will pick up very soon.

Irrational prices to create confusion

The severe drought affecting the Southeastern Anatolia Region has hit pistachio production hard this year. Issue is that the 2025 crop, known in the industry as an off year, has seen a serious drop in volume. Fresh “boz” pistachios that sold for TRY 100-110/kg last year a now fetching TRY 220/kg. Exporters state that this doubling will create some confusion in the market.
