Pistachios: Germany is a leading export destination for Iran

TEHRAN/SACRAMENTO. Although German mainly imports in-shells from the US, Iran is the most important supplier by far for pistachios without shell. Crop delays are reported in the US. In Europe, pistachios are trading in a wide range.

Germany is a top customer

Last year, Iran exported 9,848 metric tonnes of pistachios without shell (-48% yoy), as much as 2,800 metric tonnes were destined for Germany as the data issued by to the European Commission illustrates. India, the United Arab Emirates and Germany are the most important export destinations for pistachios without shells from Iran. More than half of the annual imports to Germany come from Iran.
