Pistachios: Half a million tonnes available

SCARAMENTO/FRANKFURT. As official figures demonstrate US suppliers have exported around 16% more pistachios since the start of the season than last year.

 

Record crop in the USA

At around 450,000 mt, California has produced its largest crop on record, ranging 50% above the 5-year average (297,000 mt). In considering the carry-over stocks from last season this season’s supplies comprise nearly 500,000 mt. A total of 142,162 mt of US pistachios have been shipped since the start of the season. While shipments within the US are relatively stable at 34,720 mt, the export volume has increased by a whopping 16% to 107,442 mt.

Shipments to Germany have even risen by 52% to 6,490 mt. US pistachios
