Dates: Saudi Arabia fails to tackle consumer demand

DAMMAM/TEHRAN. As global demand is on the rise Saudi Arabia and Iran require new marketing approaches to attract customers. As the Saudi Gazette has recently reported exports increased by as much as 27% in the first half of the year.

Saudi Arabia is exclusively focused on Muslims

As data from the Saudi Export Development Authority indicates the country has already exported dates worth USD 153 million between January and June. This is particularly noteworthy as the total export value reached USD 202 million in 2018 and the export volume exceeded 163,000 tonnes. Most dates are consumed locally but there is enormous potential in the export market as the nutria and health value of the fruits is gaining in importance.
