Pumpkin seeds: freight rates prompt rise in export prices

BEIJING. The decline in demand and lack of enquiries in the export market are weighling heavily on market sentiments in China. Pumpkin seeds can hardly, however, trade any lower.

Hard times for exporters

Although many exporters in China are forced to cut prices as demand remains sluggish, there is not much room left for any notable adjustments. Issue is that many suppliers only have a limited profit margin since speculative buying has already forced many traders to purchase raw seeds at high prices to serve customers. The buyers appear to be well covered. They generally prefer to wait for lower prices before committing to longer-term contracts.
