Sesame seeds: Indian traders lay hopes on tender

NEW DELHI. The prospect of finally being allowed to ship sesame seeds to the EU again seems to be much less attractive for Indian exporters...

 than for European buyers. The new requirements and strict regulations are associated with significantly higher effort and costs. Many shy away from the risk that their goods will be rejected during inspections at EU ports and might be sent back to India - at the expense of the sellers. Instead, the focus of Indian traders is set on the Asian market, and they also reckon they have good chances in the sesame seed tender currently underway, the result of which will be announced at the beginning of next week.
