Pumpkin seeds: New crop ready to be shipped soon

DALIAN. Although the harvest is in full swing, the Chinese pumpkin seed market is rather quiet. The new crop should be ready for export towards the end of September. Traders are hoping for a reason to raise their prices again.

 

1,000 USD/mt cheaper
After taking a dip, the prices for Chinese pumpkin kernels have stabilised again. The first batches from the 2018 crop are scheduled for export by the end of September - just in time for the national holiday week at the beginning of October when trade comes to a standstill for a few days. The new crop should then be available in Europe from December.

Depending on variety and supplier, the pumpkin kernel prices have dropped by up to 1,000 USD/mt compared to last year. Chinese and European traders are hoping for good sales at
