DALIAN. Chinese pumpkin seeds are becoming increasingly expensive and interested parties are being forced to bid farewell to extremely favourable offers, which involved seeds whose optical quality was not always convincing.

 

Hard times for traders
With the prospect of a 40% drop in acreage for Shine Skins, producers are creating tensions in the market, despite the stocks being high. Normally the prices for pumpkin seeds tend to drop over the last few months of the season as long as enough seeds are available. Not everyone is able or willing to pay the higher storage costs associated with refrigerated warehouses, which are a necessary expenditure over the Summer months.
