Rapeseed: MARS cuts back production estimates

BRUSSELS. Prospects are not quite as encouraging in the EU anymore.

MARS has revised its prodcution estimates for the EU. Average yields are now expected to range at 3.10 metric tonnes per hectare. In June, yields were estimated at 3.14 metric tonnes per hectare. The average yield in Germany has been cut from 3.58 metric tonnes per hectare to 3.47 metric tonnes per hectare. Yiles in France continue to range at 3.19 metric tonnes per hectare.  ABout 50% of the harevst has been completed in Germany. Sine EU prodcution is to decline to 18.7 million metric tonnes, imports are expected to climb to 5.6 million metric tonnes.
