NEW DELHI. The market in India is slowly recovering from the turbulent price development of the last few weeks. First estimates for the summer crop are also available.

The right time to buy

The prices have so far remained stable this week. They are expected to remain stable with nominal decreases in the next few weeks. The continual increase has render sesame seeds attractive for many farmers, which is why a larger acreage is now been expected.

Below average production expected

An average summer crop in India produces 50,000 mt. This year’s crop is, however, expected to be slightly smaller. Lat year’s summer crop produced as little as 14,000-15,000 mt the reason being the exceptional increase in production in 2015.
