NEW DELHI. The government in India has decided to extend the export benefits of 5% until the end of the year. As of January, the benefits will be cut to 3%.

Limited supplies for white sesame seeds

The market has witnessed nominal increases driven by an uptick in demand for winter consumption. Exporters are satisfied with the current demand from Europe. Imports from Africa are, however, due to arrive in the second half of January, which should prompt prices to decline as of 14 January as selling pressure should go up. Traders furthermore anticipate a possible supply squeeze for white sesame seeds. Problem is that the upcoming Makar Sankrankti Festival has driven up demand.
