Sowing continues in India

Indian mandi prices for both white and black sesame seeds have remained largely range-bound and steady over the past two to three weeks, supported by balanced local demand and stable international trade conditions. Spot market arrivals of the summer crop have gradually slowed down as farmers have liquidated a major portion of their produce. On a national level, total Kharif sesame sowing stands higher at approximately 927,000 ha as of 31 July, compared with 817,000 hectares during the same period last year.
