Sesame seeds: India's exports have grown by almost 13%

NEW DELHI/BRASÍLIA. India's sesame seed exports increased significantly in volume terms in October 2024, while the export value rose only moderately due to lower prices. Despite a smaller crop, the recent price declines could be only temporary.

New crop flows into the markets

Just over a month ago, Indian sesame seed farmers began delivering the new crop to the commercial markets and production from Gujarat and Rajasthan is now also available on the market. In the markets of Rajasthan, 4,000-5,000 bags of white sesame seeds are currently still arriving daily, with a weight of 60 kg per bag equalling around 240-300 mt.
