Sesame seeds: Prices have declined by 500 USD/mt since November

NEW DELHI. Traders in India are complaining about a lack of buying interest at home and overseas. Although there have been some enquiries from China, the importers are not really making any attempts to buy at the moment.

 

India cannot assert itself

The enquiries from Europe and the US have most certainly declined since the Christmas break. Although quite a few companies in China are showing interest, they are not willing to buy at the current price level. Upcountry demand is also subdued. Only the exporters who won the bid for the last sesame tender from South Korea have stocked up on sesame seeds.
