Sesame seeds: Summer crop does not bring relaxation

NEW DELHI. In the Indian market sesame seed stocks are running low and in Gujarat the upcoming summer harvest will be small again this year.

First too dry, then too wet
The first deliveries from the 2019 summer crop should arrive on the Indian trading markets in about a month. After the thunderstorms and heavy rains this week, however, the crop result is hardly predictable at the moment.

The extent to which the growing regions are affected or whether the harvest can even benefit from the rainfall must first be examined.
