NEW DELHI/DODOMA. The Indian market is still quiet, but the new tender from South Korea could breathe a little life into it. A total of 13,000 mt of sesame seeds are to be sourced. The first crop estimates have been received from Tanzania.

Stable export prices

The Indian sesame market is still very quiet. Cash problems continue to weigh on trade, affecting growers in particular, who sometimes have to wait up to ten days for their payments. Demand is also low, although market players expect this to change when the new crop reaches the markets later this month. Meanwhile, export prices are unchanged from the last two weeks and stand at USD 1,830/mt CIF Hamburg for hulled white sesame seeds, 99.98% purity.
