NEW DELHI. With the country celebrating two national holidays within three days, the Indian sesame seeds market was relatively quiet last week. Now the first details relating to the new tender from South Korea are being rumoured within the market.

New tender to be announced tomorrow

Traders expect Korea to announce a new tender over 6,000 mt tomorrow. These prospects are increasing the pressure on Indian exporters, who purchase sesame seeds in advance to ensure they have sufficient supplies.

Depending on supplier, the prices are stable to falling and are up to 75 USD/mt lower than two weeks ago. Although overseas demand is good, retailers fear the high price level may disqualify Indian sesame seeds for the upcoming tender.
