Sesame seeds: New tender to be issued as early as July

NEW DELHI. Although South Korea has only recently purchased 13,000 mt, there are rumours afloat stating that a new tender is to follow at the beginning of July.

Good demand drives up prices

The rising export demand for black sesame seeds is causing prices in India to go up, Semi Z Black seeds, 99.95% climbed to 2,670 USD/mt CIF Hamburg. The kharif crop is said to have produced a total of 4,000-5,000 mt of black sesame seeds.

White sesame seeds have also risen in price. As the new crop arrivals are starting to slow down prices are expected to firm up over the next few days. This week’s arrivals totalled around 3,682 mt, of which 3,000 mt originate in Gujarat.
