Spice market update: Indian pepper traders have an advantage

GUJARAT. Weekly monitoring with the latest market information from India on cumin, coriander and turmeric, chilli, black pepper and cardamom as well as a price list for more than 70 products.

Cumin

According to traders, cumin arrivals have been significantly higher than demand in recent days. This led to price declines of almost USD 50/mt compared to last week, but since the beginning of the week prices have been holding steady at USD 2,021/mt FOB India for Grade A cumin. Indian cumin production for the 2020/21 season is estimated at 856,505 mt by the Spices Board of India, which would represent a 6.1% decline from last season.
