Sugar: imports from Poland increase by 37%

WARSAW/PRAGUE. At the beginning of the new campaign, sugar imports to Germany have declined measurably compared to last year.

Imports from Poland and the Czech Republic increase

In October 2019, 36,519 metric tonnes of granulated sugar were imported into Germany. The significant decline compared to 2018 is primarily due to decreasing deliveries from France and the Netherlands, which dropped by 26% and 17%. At the same time, the volume of imports from countries such as Poland, Belgium and the Czech Republic increased significantly.
