Stock limit on Sugar

The continuous rise in sugar prices and the festive season in front of the government, the government has made a big decision. Union Minister of Food and Consumer Affairs Ram Vilas Paswan had said that the government has imposed a stock limit on sugar mills for September. According to the Food Minister, the government has decided to keep sugar prices under control during September and October. According to the information provided by the Food Minister, in the current sugar year 2016-17, sugar mills will not be able to hold more than 21 per cent of their total production during September. The Chinese year ends in September, the new Chinese year will start from October 2017-18.

According to the Food Minister, the stock limit is not only for September but also for October month, the total sugar produced in October cannot hold more than 8% of the stocks. The Food Minister also said that there is a lot of sugar stock to satisfy the needs of the country.

There has been a one side increase in retail prices of sugar in recent times.
