Sunflower seeds: Coceral issues revised production estimates

... 10.98 million metric tonnes. However, At 500 metric tonnes Coceral's estimate for Moldova, however, ranges lower than other production estimates. The USDA, for isntance, reckons that production is set to rise by 14.8% to 900,000 metric tonnes. Combined estimates states that production is set to rise by 1.4% to 11.39 million metric tonnes in Europe.

18-year low in Slovakia

The cut back in acreage and reduced yields coupled with a lack of rain will have an impact on prodcution in Slovakia. Coceral estimates that prodcution will decline by 26% to 149,000 metric tonnes. The Statistical Office of the Slovak Repubic even reckons that production will fall by as much as 35% to 132,100 metric tonnes. This low figure was last witnessed at the beginning of the century.
